Stella plus Jack

Meet Stella and Jack: friends and silly millies with smiles that will melt your heart.

Photographing these pals reminded me of one of my best friendships from my own childhood. We grew up together because our mothers started a school together very much like Stella and Jack’s mothers who started a children’s consignment clothing business (you can find their products at www.stellaplusjack.com)

One of my favorite memories from my childhood friendship was that we agreed to get married when we grew up because he said he would turn his greenhouse into a pool for my future dolphin. Another memory is when he asked me incredulously: “Why do you always sing when your mad?!” Although I am now engaged to a man who isn’t planning on accomodating a dolphin I do still sing when I am mad. Childhood friendships are such a blessing and I feel lucky to have been able to photograph it.

Jessie and Sophia

Jessie met me at Fuel cafe with Sophia’s leash in one hand and a beautiful quilt she made in the other. Sophia is an adorable Jack Russell Terrier with a little heart adorning her collar. She’s a jumper, a begger for treats, and the sweetest friend to Jessie. It was so lovely to meet them and it was such a joy to spend a sunny fall morning with a vanilla latte in one hand and my camera in the other as we laughed and photographed.

The Jorge Family

This is the beautiful Jorge Family. The session was full of laughter, love, and big beautiful smiles which were such a joy to capture.

Logan’s a Senior

This is Logan: computer guy, volunteer, football player, and senior. I was listening to him tell me about his life during this session and I was struck by the thought that being a senior in high school is one of those monumental momments in one’s life that truly deserves to be celebrated. It is a time of great change, decision making, self discovery and excitement.
Logan is certainly on the brink of doing wonderful things and it was such a treat to hear him talk about his aspirations and to be able to document this time of his life. These are a few of the shots from his senior session.

Kelly and Myra

I met Kelly about a year ago when a mutual friend suggested that I photograph her adorable daughter Myra. I left that shoot with a big smile and a new friend. Kelly is so cute and wonderful, she is full of laughter and fun and is such an amazing mother to her little one. Myra is so sweet and brave, on this shoot she fell completely in the ocean and she came up laughing and dragging her mom in for more. I am so blessed to have met these two beatiful ladies!

Geneva and Jim

I had the great pleasure of photographing Geneva and Jim a little while ago. These two are so beautiful and were such a joy to work with. Geneva is a complete sweetheart and working towards being a nurse which I think is so amazing….it takes a special person to want to take care of others for a living. Her boyfriend of four years is a fellow photographer and videographer. I always love photographing other visual artists, it feels particularly challenging.

I love photographing love. It is so beautiful to me to watch a couple be themseles and allow me to take portraits of their relationship. Thank you Geneva and Jim! You two are wonderful.

Harper and Hillary

I admire Hillary so completely. I often feel like I’m drowning in my school work and then I see Hillary going to school and being an amazing mother to her little munchkin and realize that I should really quit complaining about my workload and lack of sleep! Hillary is such a beautiful woman inside and out. She is always full of laughter and joy with her adorable baby in one arm and a camera in the other!

To celebrate the beginning of summer I broke out the picnic blanket, some bubbles and (wait for it) a video camera! These are some stills of Hillary with her Harper from a video I will be revealing in August! 🙂 Stay tuned!

My Dad

This year I was lucky enough to be home for Father’s Day. We spent the day playing basketball (his favorite thing to do) and watching golf (Tiger lost! Always a good day in our family) It was wonderful. When anyone says I am like my dad I swell up with pride. I have always admired his strength, his ability to talk to anyone like he has known them for years, his confidence, his work ethic, his sense of humor, and his big heart. I love him to pieces <3

Nikole and Alma

One of my favorite things about being a portraitist is the amazing people I meet. Nikole is a beautiful person, mother, wife and works as a midwife! What an amazing job that must be…bringing new life into the world. My brother was born in the house that my parents built and that was such a special thing so I very much admire midwives :). Nikole’s huband, Marco, is a chef from Italy! Amazing! Together they have two of the most adorable children: Jackimo and Alma. I photographed Alma and Nikole together last week and felt so blessed to be able to photograph such beautiful people <3
