Tera and Kirsten’s Gorgeous Day!

It was a beautiful sunny day in Santa Barbara, a phenomenon not at all unusual for the pretty town. I woke up with a stomach full of butterflies (I still get nervous and so excited before every wedding and every session I shoot) and started going over the game plan for the day with one of my best friends/favorite assistant; Lauren Kanegawa. We had both traveled for this wedding and we were so excited for the day to finally unfold.

Tera and Kirsten are so beautiful and their love is even more so. From the first look on the day flowed naturally with so much laughter, so much fun, and so much color. The wedding colors were bright pink and orange and it was a perfect fit for their personalities. Kirsten and Tera  were both always ready to dance and always grinning from ear to ear. The day radiated joy. I am so grateful to have been able to capture their love, so thankful to have been given the chance to freeze their laughs for them. A huge thank you to Lauren for driving down from Sacramento to help me photograph this amazing wedding! You can see more of her work here: http://www.laurenkphoto.com/

Without further ado, here is Kirsten and Tera.

Madeline

I photographed Madeline and her mother Marybeth on a rainy winter day under a canopy of trees at the Montlake Arboretum. They are both so beautiful and were such a joy to work with.

Motherhood is my absolute favorite thing to photograph and I feel so blessed to have been able to capture these two ladies.

The Lambert Family

The Lamberts are such a sweet family full of joy, laughter, and love. Little Lucy looks exactly like her beautiful mama and little Jack looks exactly like his handsome dad. We postponed our original session because we were rained out. I have been so used to sunny Santa Barbara that I found this to be a rude awakening to my new surroundings. On the new date I woke up to rain but the sun peeked it’s head out just in time for our shoot and we had a wonderful (and dry!) time enjoying the last of the fall weather.

The Sele Boys

If I had to describe my session with Deacon and Duke in three words I would use: adorable, energetic, and hilarious. These two brothers were so cute and were the biggest troublemakers in the best way possible. In between the chaos of flying penguins and props that drive were beautiful moments of brotherly love and sweet expressions, and those were the moments I fell in love with.

The Moberg Family

When I knocked on the Moberg front door I was greeted by an adorable little girl in a beautiful full length gown. She looked at me and yelled: “Mom! Dad! Someone is here!” After finding out who I was she promptly proceeded to show me her photo albums which, as a photographer, I thought was wonderful.

We all wen’t walking through fall leaves while the sun tried to peek it’s head out as I took their portraits. I love photographing families, there is so much love and connection. Mia was full of joy and sometimes a little bit of sass and both her parents are so sweet.

The Jorge Family

This is the beautiful Jorge Family. The session was full of laughter, love, and big beautiful smiles which were such a joy to capture.

Geneva and Jim

I had the great pleasure of photographing Geneva and Jim a little while ago. These two are so beautiful and were such a joy to work with. Geneva is a complete sweetheart and working towards being a nurse which I think is so amazing….it takes a special person to want to take care of others for a living. Her boyfriend of four years is a fellow photographer and videographer. I always love photographing other visual artists, it feels particularly challenging.

I love photographing love. It is so beautiful to me to watch a couple be themseles and allow me to take portraits of their relationship. Thank you Geneva and Jim! You two are wonderful.

Nikole and Alma

One of my favorite things about being a portraitist is the amazing people I meet. Nikole is a beautiful person, mother, wife and works as a midwife! What an amazing job that must be…bringing new life into the world. My brother was born in the house that my parents built and that was such a special thing so I very much admire midwives :). Nikole’s huband, Marco, is a chef from Italy! Amazing! Together they have two of the most adorable children: Jackimo and Alma. I photographed Alma and Nikole together last week and felt so blessed to be able to photograph such beautiful people <3

Laci and Micah

“A kiss is the rosy dot over the “i” of living.”
Love is so special. It is the universal language, it is all.

These are portraits of Laci and Micah, a couple who met in Fairbanks, Alaska (my hometown) and picked up everything to move to Ventura, California on an adventure. I love it when people take risks and make big changes when they want to so I admire that they have these traits. I photographed them on their anniversary and we all enjoyed a wonderful sunset and lots of laughs 🙂

Much Love,

Kiana M.
