The Jorge Family

This is the beautiful Jorge Family. The session was full of laughter, love, and big beautiful smiles which were such a joy to capture.

Much Love, Kiana M.

Logan’s a Senior

This is Logan: computer guy, volunteer, football player, and senior. I was listening to him tell me about his life during this session and I was struck by the thought that being a senior in high school is one of those monumental momments in one’s life that truly deserves to be celebrated. It is a time of great change, decision making, self discovery and excitement.
Logan is certainly on the brink of doing wonderful things and it was such a treat to hear him talk about his aspirations and to be able to document this time of his life. These are a few of the shots from his senior session.

Much Love, Kiana M.

Kelly and Myra

I met Kelly about a year ago when a mutual friend suggested that I photograph her adorable daughter Myra. I left that shoot with a big smile and aΒ new friend. Kelly is so cute and wonderful, she is full of laughter and fun and is such an amazing mother to her little one. Myra is so sweet and brave, on this shoot she fell completely in the ocean and she came up laughing and dragging her mom in for more. I am so blessed to have met these two beatiful ladies!

Much Love,

Kiana M.

Geneva and Jim

I had the great pleasure of photographing Geneva and Jim a little while ago. These two are so beautiful and were such a joy to work with. Geneva is a complete sweetheart and working towards being a nurse which I think is so amazing….it takes a special person to want to take care of others for a living. Her boyfriend of four years is a fellow photographer and videographer. I always love photographing other visual artists, it feels particularly challenging.

I love photographing love. It is so beautiful to me to watch a couple be themseles and allow me to take portraits of their relationship. Thank you Geneva and Jim! You two are wonderful.

Harper and Hillary

I admire Hillary so completely. I often feel like I’m drowning in my school work and then I see Hillary going to school and being an amazing mother to her little munchkin and realize that I should really quit complaining about my workload and lack of sleep! Hillary is such a beautiful woman inside and out. She is always full of laughter and joy with her adorable baby in one arm and a camera in the other!

To celebrate the beginning of summer I broke out the picnic blanket, some bubbles and (wait for it) a video camera! These are some stills of Hillary with her Harper from a video I will be revealing in August! πŸ™‚ Stay tuned!

Much Love, Kiana M.

My Dad

This year I was lucky enough to be home for Father’s Day. We spent the day playing basketball (his favorite thing to do) and watching golf (Tiger lost! Always a good day in our family) It was wonderful. When anyone says I am like my dad I swell up with pride. I have always admired his strength, his ability to talk to anyone like he has known them for years, his confidence, his work ethic, his sense of humor, and his big heart. I love him to pieces <3

Nikole and Alma

One of my favorite things about being a portraitist is the amazing people I meet. Nikole is a beautiful person, mother, wife and works as a midwife! What an amazing job that must be…bringing new life into the world. My brother was born in the house that my parents built and that was such a special thing so I very much admire midwives :). Nikole’s huband, Marco, is a chef from Italy! Amazing! Together they have two of the most adorable children: Jackimo and Alma. I photographed Alma and Nikole together last week and felt so blessed to be able to photograph such beautiful people <3

Laci and Micah

“A kiss is the rosy dot over the “i” of living.”
Love is so special. It is the universal language, it is all.

These are portraits of Laci and Micah, a couple who met in Fairbanks, Alaska (my hometown) and picked up everything to move to Ventura, California on an adventure. I love it when people take risks and make big changes when they want to so I admire that they have these traits. I photographed them on their anniversary and we all enjoyed a wonderful sunset and lots of laughs πŸ™‚

Much Love,

Kiana M.

Cody and Georgi Got Married <3

During my very first internship with a fabulous photographer named Barbie Hull I noticed a pattern about myself at weddings: I am a crier. I was photographing couples that I had never met before that day and bawling behind my camera. Call it being emotional, call it being sentimental, I call it being connected πŸ˜‰

It turns out that the tear factor is not absent when I know the people either. Cody was one of my best friends growing up. He is the cousin closest to me in age and I love him dearly. He met a beautiful woman and they fell in love and the rest I suppose…is history.

Thank you Cody and Georgi for making me a part of your day. I wish you complete bliss. I am so happy for you both.

Much Love,

Kiana M.
